RBCuZn-C Low Fuming Bronze Welding Wire Introduction

RBCuZn-C Low fuming bronze (bare and flux coated) is a general-purpose, copper base alloy brazing rod used extensively for gas brazing steel, copper alloys, cast iron, nickel alloys and stainless steel. Its low fuming characteristic and good mechanical properties make this alloy a widely used general-purpose product. Preheating is recommended for some applications and a bronze brazing flux is required if the rod is not coated. This brazing rod has a low melting point making it easily machinable and excellent for sheet metal work. This alloy also possesses high tensile strength and good ductility.

Low Fuming Bronze is a general-purpose oxyacetylene brazing rod used for steel, copper alloys, cast iron, nickel alloys and stainless steel. RBCuZn-C is used on steels, copper, copper alloys, nickel, nickel alloys, and stainless steel. It is used with the torch, furnace, and induction brazing processes. Fluxing is required, and a borax-boric acid flux is commonly used. Joint clearnaces from 0.002 in to 0.005 in [0.05 mm to 0.13 mm] are suitable. The high silicon content of Low Fuming Bronze keeps fumes to a minimum. Preheating is required for some applications and bronze brazing flux is required for the bare rods.

This alloy can be considered a “braze-welding” wire as this copper/zinc alloy exhibits minimal capillary action during brazing. This limits joint design primarily to lap, tee, and butt joints. Butt joints require some edge preparation typically incorporating beveled edges to provide a location for filler metal to be applied and to ensure alloy penetration to the joint root. To braze; heat the base metals to brazing temperature and manually deposit the rod along the joint.

Both bare or flux-coated can be supplied.
